Obituary : David W. Jefferson
David William Jefferson, 72, of Glastonbury, Conn., loving husband and father, died Friday, June 26, after a brief illness. He and his family have enjoyed the past 20 summers at their home on East Chop; Dave was a member of the M.V. Rod & Gun Club and particularly enjoyed his fishing trips with Dick Vincent aboard the Flashy Lady.
Born in Mineola, N.Y., son of the late George and Elizabeth (Wilde) Jefferson, he and his family have lived in Glastonbury for the past 40 years. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 48 years, Nancy (Strong) Jefferson, son Bill Jefferson, daughter and son-in-law Linda Jefferson and Kelly Hoffpauir, and his beloved grandchildren Sara and Nick, all of Glastonbury. In addition, he leaves his siblings Elizabeth Brock of Canton, Ga., and George (Ken) Jefferson and wife Lucile of North Hero, Vt., as well as a brother-in-law and his wife, Frank and Barbara Strong of Fairport, N.Y.
Dave was a graduate of Bates College, a U.S. Army veteran, and he spent his entire career in the petroleum distribution field, having held various management positions at ARCO, Mercury Oil, and General Oil in the Hartford, Conn. area. His devotion outside of work and family was to his 1700s colonial home in Glastonbury, which he and Nancy restored to its original condition, qualifying it for placement on the National Historic Register.
Services and burial are in Glastonbury. A donation may be made in his memory, if desired, to Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue, P.O. Box 808, Hudson, MA 01749 or a charity of the donor's choice.
