Obituary : Laurance W. Walton
Laurance Washington Walton, 76, of Ft. Myers, Fla., formerly of Newton and Wareham, died July 12, of pneumonia. He is survived by his wife Joan Walton, of Ft. Myers (formerly of Newton and Wareham), daughter Patricia Walton McGarry of Wareham, granddaughter Mercedes McGarry of Wareham, and sister Patricia Flaherty of Cypress, Calif.
Larry graduated from George Washington University in 1955, earned a Masters in Theology at Virginia Theological Seminary, and a Masters in Counseling at New York University. He served in the Episcopal Church in Nicaragua as a recruiting officer for Executive Council of Episcopal Church in New York City; as counselor for Clergy, N.J.; and as Rector of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Newton Lower Falls. His last volunteer job was for the Episcopal Church in El Salvador. A memorial service will be held at Church of the Good Shepherd in Wareham at 2 pm on Saturday, August 15.
