Obituary : Nancy H. (Subolosky) Zamarro
Nancy H. (Subolosky) Zamarro, 63, of Shrewsbury and Oak Bluffs, died on Wednesday, Nov. 25, in Wachusett Extended Care Center in Holden. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Michael P. Zamarro; two daughters, Jayme L. Zamarro and her fiancé, Rob Gangi, and Jill L. Zamarro, all of Shrewsbury; two sisters, Barbara Laimond in California and Janet McGuire of Norfolk; sister-in-law, Elaine E. Zamarro of Worcester; Linus the dog; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Carol A. Subolosky.
Born in Worcester, daughter of the late Bernard and Lois (Kimmens) Subolosky, she graduated from Auburn High School, and earned a teaching degree from the former Boston State College.
Nancy retired in October 2006 from the Worcester School System, where she was the Math Curriculum Coordinator for the school department, having previously been a mathematics teacher in the school system. She had also been a teacher in Holden and Shrewsbury. She was a member of Saint Mary's Church in Shrewsbury and the Mass Teachers Association.
She found great pleasure spending time at her home on Martha's Vineyard, where she would wake early to enjoy her sunrise beach walks. She also enjoyed searching for beach glass and reading. Her greatest joy, though, came from the times spent with her husband, daughters, and many friends, whether at home in Shrewsbury or on the Island.
The funeral for Nancy was held Monday, Nov. 30, from Mercadante Funeral Home and Chapel in Worcester, with a Mass at 11 am in Saint Mary's Church in Shrewsbury. Interment followed in Mountain View Cemetery. Calling hours were held Sunday, Nov. 29, from 4 until 8 pm in the funeral home.
