Obituary : Margaret L. Manning
Margaret L. Manning died on January 17 at Windemere Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Oak Bluffs. She was born Margaret Louise Grayson on June 2, 1916 in Farmersville, Texas. Mrs. Manning was predeceased in 2004 by her beloved husband, Melvin (Tex) Manning.
The Mannings moved to Martha's Vineyard from Rio Rancho, N.M. in 2002 after spending 24 peaceful retirement years there. They raised their two children in Hopatcong, N.J., where "Margo" was active in the West Side United Methodist Church, the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club, and her fun group of friends, the "Bullettes." She was an accomplished pianist and organist, and also had played the accordion and violin.
Margaret Manning is survived by her daughter, Patricia Benway of Vineyard Haven; and her son and his wife, Michael J. Manning and Jane of Sparta, N.J. Grandchildren are Julie Benway of Vineyard Haven, Jesse Manning of Sparta, and Mitchell Benway of Asheville, N.C. Mrs. Manning left one great grandchild, Aedan Manning.
A memorial service will be scheduled in the coming months.
