Obituary : Gerald H. Chipperfield
Gerald Harold Chipperfield, 81, was born November 10, 1928 in Westerly, R.I., to Ethel E. Chipperfield and Gerald Harold Payne. Gerry died peacefully, Thursday, Feb. 4, surrounded by his loving family members and the care of Island Hospice.
Gerry resided in Oak Buffs, since moving to the Island in 1960, after serving his country in the Marines from 1945 to 1952 in the Pacific, China, and Korea. On the Island he was a well-known commercial fisherman and carpenter. He will be missed by many friends and family.
He is survived by his five sons, Gerald Jr., Alan, Kenneth, David, and Donald; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his long-time companion, Marci Landi.
There will be a military service at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Thursday, Feb. 18, at 11 am.
