Obituary : Nancy A. Abdelnour
Published: February 11, 2010
Nancy Ann Abdelnour died on January 2 in Boston at Beth Israel Hospital after battling a long illness. An Island native, Nancy was the daughter of Harry and Bertha Abdelnour. She was predeceased by her brother Douglas Abdelnour Sr. Nancy leaves three sons and a daughter - Shawn M Willoughby Jr., Jason R Willoughby, Ryan H Willoughby, and Taylor L Higgins behind as well as her long-time partner, John Beringer.
Nancy was born at the Martha's Vineyard Hospital on August 1, 1960. She was brought up in Oak Bluffs where many old-time Islanders will remember Harry's Laundry on Circuit Ave. A little later she would be a fixture at Nancy's Snack Bar which was built by her parents on Oak Bluffs harbor. Nancy loved going to the beach with her children blasting up the beach to Chappy. She was an avid sports woman. Her children loved fishing, clamming, and cooking on the beach or anywhere when they were with their Mom! Nancy was very well liked by everyone she met. For many years in the fall and winter she could be found at the local shucking house opening scallops to support her children. Nancy was known to be one of the fastest openers on the Island. Nancy will be greatly missed but never forgotten by anyone that knew her.
A service will be on Sunday, Feb. 14, at 1 pm at the P.A Club in Oak Bluffs. If possible, please bring food that will help contribute to the BBQ.
Donations would be greatly appreciated to help with the cost of burial and can be made at the service.
