Obituary : Robert J. Silva
Robert Silva of Chilmark died on Monday, Feb. 8, at the Henrietta Brewer House in Vineyard Haven. He was 81. Bobby was born in Oak Bluffs on October 15, 1928 to Joseph & Virginia (Silvia) Silva. He grew up on his family's farm, T Lane Farm on Middle Road in Chilmark. When the farm became less active, Bobby did landscaping for many of his neighbors. When he retired he could be found tooling with his tractor and continued to cut, bail, and store hay in the barn.
Bobby is survived by his brother Elmer and his wife, Beverly, of Vineyard Haven, his sister, Clara Rabbitt, of Vineyard Haven, and his brother Walter and his wife, Lucette, of Chilmark, and also many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, Feb. 12, at 10:30 am in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Vineyard Haven with the Rev. Roger Spinney officiating. Family and friends will gather at the Ag Hall in West Tisbury following services. Arrangements are under the care of Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home in Oak Bluffs.
