Obituary : Viktoria Holm Kramer
Viktoria Holm Kramer, after demonstrating remarkable courage and grace in her four-year challenge with cancer, died on February 17, at home. Loved ones, in an atmosphere gentled with candlelight and the music of Erik Satie, surrounded her.
More than 100 attended a memorial service, held at the Church of Religious Science in North Hollywood, CA, to pay tribute. Her three sons - Jordan, Jaxon, and Jeremy Kramer - endowed with her shining spirit and individualism, were among those who shared their thoughts.
A California resident, Vikki was a member of the Vineyard's Cronig family. She was the daughter-in-law of Shirley Cronig Smith, and she spent summers at the Cronig house in Vineyard Haven, where she became part of the Island community, developing and maintaining close friendships. Her Island friends became part of her extended family.
Born in Iceland on December 24, 1950, Vikki grew up in New Jersey and settled in California where, after being a children's commercial agent, she worked with George Lucas at Lucas Films.
During the 1990s, Vikki and her former husband and constant close friend Jeffrey Kramer helped launch the Tourette Syndrome Association (TSA) Annual Champion of Children Dinner, an event that became one of the largest sources of income for TSA. She was an active and dedicated member of the TSA National Board of Directors.
Knowing Vikki was a privilege. She had a striking presence and a uniquely affecting warmth. Her remarkable gift for recognizing what was special about the people around her made each one who paused in the circle of her light feel empowered to be their better selves. She is survived by her family, her loving partner, Dennis Jones, and her close and dedicated friends for whom she is unforgettable.
A celebration of her life will be held on the Vineyard this summer. Donations may be made in Vikki's name to Against the Stream Meditation Society (againstthestream.org) or Vineyard House (vineyardhouse.org).
