Obituary : De Nyse W.T. Pinkerton
De Nyse W.T. Pinkerton, 91, died on April 3 in Naples, Fla. Born December 3, 1917, daughter of Elbert B.M. Wortman and Dous Nash Wortman in Rochester, NY. She was raised in Utica, N.Y. and attended the Utica Country Day School, Smith and Hollins Colleges, and especially The Art Student’s League in New York City. She painted many pastel portraits during her marriage to Lee Turner. She also served on the board of the Baltimore Animal Aid Association. With her second husband, Edward C. Pinkerton, she continued to paint more portraits, many of which have been exhibited at The Peale Museum; The Baltimore Museum of Art, The Concoran Gallery, and The National Galleries in Washington, Philadelphia and New York. Mrs. Pinkerton and her husband retired to live in Mexico for six months each year. Upon the death of her husband, she made her home at Arbor Trace in Naples. She is survived by her first cousin, Denys Wortman, 71, of Vineyard Haven. Donations may be made in her memory to Ocean Conservancy, www.oceanconservancy.org.
