Overcoming postpartum letdown to become mom-fit
Jennifer Knight had always wanted to be a mother. Even as she was exploring and enjoying careers in both education and real estate, she knew she wouldn't feel complete until she was able to add the title mom to her already impressive resume. When her son was born three years ago, she was thrilled. He was "Our calm, joyful baby — our little Buddha." The first several months of motherhood were idyllic. Then, when she started back to work, something shifted. She had expected to be tired, but she wasn't prepared to feel completely drained, and uninspired.
Hot yoga – through heat and discipline, the pathway to the divine
Claire Parkhurst is no stranger to the wellness industry. She is a former physical therapist's assistant, a licensed massage therapist for more than 20 years, a yoga instructor since 2008, and the previous owner of Integrative Therapeutics, an interdisciplinary facility in Natick.
Recovery, and now a business, because of the raw food diet
In 2007, Stacy Stowers realized a remarkable recovery from the debilitating effects of fibromyalgia and chronic pain, thanks to a switch to a raw food diet. Ms. Stowers says that before she — reluctantly — experimented with the diet, "I couldn't get out of bed or get dressed. I was on all kinds of pain medication and sleeping pills. I was using coffee and alcohol every day for the pain. Eventually my teeth started to fall out."
What are you doing this summer?
Tisbury School's third graders talk about their plans for the long awaited summer vacation.
Nelson Mechanical Design and the Vineyard Energy Project will host a presentation about an innovative heat pump project in a West Tisbury home on June 29.
