Plum TV adds
Aspen station
Plum TV, a 24-hour cable television network serving upscale resort
communities including Marthas Vineyard, has agreed to acquire
Aspens TV-16 from the Aspen Skiing Company. The channel will
be renamed Aspen Plum.
The deal is subject to FCC approval as well as the satisfaction of
other customary closing conditions.
Plum TV had its initial launch in July 2004 with local channels in
the Hamptons in New York, and Marthas Vineyard (cable channel
76) and Nantucket.
Ive skied in Aspen many times and visited the mountain
for years. Were psyched to be in business with Aspen,
said Tom Scott, CEO and co-founder of Plum TV.
According to a company press release, Plum TV programming includes
regionally-focused feature pieces, tourist information (weather, traffic
reports, restaurant reviews, retail and lodging information), a real
estate show, local news, and specially targeted entertainment for
each communitys interests.
Craftworks honored for decorations
The Oak Bluffs Association named Craftworks on Circuit Avenue as the
best-decorated business in town for the past holiday season.
The award is based on style, tradition, originality, and beauty
according to a press release. Craftworks is owned by Paula Catanese
and Ron DOrio. The shop features an eclectic collection of contemporary
American crafts.
Edgartown water author contributes to volume
William E. Marks of Edgartown, a local author who specializes in water,
has been invited to contribute five articles to The Encyclopedia of
Water, a soon-to-be-released five-volume set published by John Wiley
& Sons, with a price of $1,500.
According to Mr. Marks, the encyclopedia was created with contributions
of scientists, educators and professionals to form the premier source
of water information for the ages.
Promotion at Sovereign Bank branch
The Bank of Marthas Vineyard, a division of Sovereign Bank,
announced the promotion of Ann K. Hunt to Vice President. She had
been branch manager of the Vineyard Haven office.
After 15 years with the Bank in Vineyard Haven, I feel I know
our customers well, and as Vice President, am in a good position to
help them with their banking needs even more, said Ms. Hunt.
Ms. Hunt has been active with Marthas Vineyard Youth Hockey
and the Marthas Vineyard After School program. Her son, Nicholas
Moreis, attends Marthas Vineyard Regional High School.
Ms. Hunt began working for the Marthas Vineyard National Bank
in 1989 and remained after the bank was bought by Compass Bank and
then most recently by Sovereign Bank. |
