New acupuncture
center opens
Frances Desmone recently announced the opening of her office practice
Allegheny Acupuncture located at 2 Ryans Way in Oak Bluffs in
the office of Dr. John Campbell and Marthas Vineyard Chiropractic
Center.
Ms. Desmone attended Pacific College of oriental medicine in San Diego,
Cal. and completed her studies at New England School of Acupuncture

Linear Air offers Islanders season discount
Linear Air, a private air-taxi service based in Lexington, offers
a 10-percent discount on season tickets to the Vineyard and Nantucket
for passengers who book trips by March 31.
For example, a 10-trip ticket book for flights between Hanscom Field
in Bedford, normally $3,500, would be $3,150. Customers can take advantage

$500 scholarship available for design studies
Hutker Architects, Inc., of Vineyard Haven and Falmouth, Massachusetts,
said that it will award a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior
from both the Marthas Vineyard Regional High School and Falmouth
High School, who will study design in college.
As architects and designers, we recognize our responsibility
to protect, preserve, and improve our built environment. In providing
financial assistance to local students, we seek to expand our concept
of stewardship to include future generations of designers who will
help shape the future of our region, a press release from Mark
Hutker, of Hutker Architects, Inc, stated.
To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be graduating seniors
enrolled in an accredited college program in one of the design fields.
The fields include, but are not limited to, architecture, landscape
architecture, industrial design, interior design, textiles, fashion,
and furniture design.
In addition to the standard school scholarship applications, each
eligible student must submit three to five examples of their design
work on standard, letter size paper. Applicants must provide a self-addressed
stamped envelope if they wish to have their work returned.
Applications and supporting materials from Vineyard high school students

All applications must be either post-marked or hand-delivered by Monday,
