State treasurer recognizes MV Co-op Bank for youth programs
The office of Massachusetts state treasurer Timothy Cahill cited the
Marthas Vineyard Co-operative Bank in a recent newsletter for
two youth banking programs.
The bank was chosen as one of the 16 most ambitious banks in Massachusetts
for its school savings program, begun in 1995.
The treasurers office also cited two Island youngsters for their
outstanding savings skills as part of the banks
Internet school savings program.

Podiatrist completes specialized training
Dr. Michelle McCrumb Segel recently completed coursework in diabetic
foot management through Harvard Medical School, according to a press
release. Dr. Segel, of Heel and Sole Podiatry in West Tisbury, is
a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and American
Board of Multiple Specialties in Podiatry.
New child care center opens in Vineyard Haven
The First Light Child Development Center, a licensed child care center
located in the First Baptist Church Parish House, 66 William Street,
Tisbury will hold an open house on Saturday from 9 am to 11 am.
Elizabeth Bonifacio, licensed director and owner, said the open house
is a way to thank the community for its support.
She and the staff will be available to answer questions about the
school and early childhood care and education.
The school, which opens on June 1, will serve children ages 15 months
to five years of age on a year-round basis.
