Senior year survey

Posted January 19, 2006

Before the forum began, alumni and seniors lined up at several dozen laptop computers set up on the stage to answer survey questions about how well they thought Martha's Vineyard Regional High School (MVRHS) prepared them in their senior year for college. The results will be examined by the senior year committee, which is made up of parents, students, and teachers.

"We are trying to determine if we are offering the most challenging and rewarding experience possible in order for our students to become successful college freshmen," said Stephen Nixon, MVRHS assistant principal.

The options are to leave the senior year as is or to add a mentorship, job, project or portfolio component, Mr. Nixon said. "We will look at various models across the country and incorporate the opinions of students, teachers, parents, administrators, and community members."
