Voracity in O.B.
The winner of Sharky's first ever taco eating contest was Buck Martin of Edgartown who gulped down 20 mini beef tacos in two minutes, forty seconds before a packed house at a Start of the Season Party at the popular Circuit Ave. eating establishment, Wednesday, Nov. 15. "It was one of the most impressive acts I have ever seen up close," said Ian Murray, co-owner of Vineyard Vines.
Mr. Martin was well rewarded for whatever discomfort he experienced after his winning efforts: a Sharky's fleece jacket, T-shirt, and $100.
As for Start of the Season, Sharky's co-owner John Blau explained, "we consider fall, winter, and spring our season and look at summer as off-season. Our focus is the time of year when we recognize everybody in the restaurant and that time is now."
So popular was the contest, Mr. Blau said that another contest is planned for the winter.
