CLC aids housing

Posted February 22, 2007

Cape Light Compact (CLC) will help fund renewable energy systems for affordable housing developers through a $1.5 million grant received from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MTC).

Next Tuesday the CLC will host a meeting for developers who plan to build affordable housing on or before the end of 2009 and who are interested in incorporating renewable or sustainable energy elements, particularly photo-voltaic, small-scale wind, and micro-electric hydro. The meeting will be held from 1:30-3 pm at the First District Courthouse in Barnstable.

Over the next two years, the program is expected to help affordable housing developers design green homes and install renewable energy systems on as many as 50 affordable housing units on Martha's Vineyard and Cape Cod.

Those who wish to attend should call 508-375-6644 by tomorrow.
