Trot, trot to Tisbury
Posted July 12, 2007
There were profiteroles and quiche, a rock wall and dancing, the Vineyard Sound and Johnny Hoy, and the welcome old standards from the Tisbury Firemen - burgers and strawberry shortcake.
The annual Tisbury Street Fair this past Sunday was held in traditional Tisbury fashion. Café Moxie grilled ribs on Main Street, authors such as Cynthia Riggs sat, pen in hand, ready to sign books outside of the Bunch of Grapes Bookstore.
There were a lot of tables for Island organizations, such as the M.V. Figure Skating Club, which was celebrating their 25th anniversary.
And Habitat for Humanity of Martha's Vineyard had an out-of-the-ordinary table. People paid $10 and got to sign their name on a cedar shingle, which will be put on the next house built by Habitat.
The evening brought out big crowds and the rain held off until the very last minute.
