Two-wheeling safety
Posted September 27, 2007
The Tisbury Police Department held an informative bicycle safety day for Island youth this past Sunday at the Tisbury School. Free tee-shirts and helmets were given out, as well as hot dogs and hamburgers.
Cycle Works of Vineyard Haven donated one of three Trek bicycles given away in a free raffle to those who completed the obstacle course.
John Stephenson of Cycle Works was on location and gave bicycle checks and helmet fittings, and officers taught children the proper rules of the road. Participants also had the opportunity to ride through a circle and serpentine track to improve their maneuvering skills. The Tisbury Police Relief Association sponsored the safety day.
Garret Broadley shows his skills on the circle track at last Sunday's bike safety day.
