The Martha's Vineyard Donors Collaborative (MVDC), in cooperation with the Cape Cod Foundation, will hold a workshop for Vineyard nonprofit organizations designed to help organizations improve board governance and fundraising.
"Do you have a challenge recruiting and retaining good Board members? Has your fundraising stagnated? Does your Board need to move to the next level of engagement?" asks Peter Temple, MVDC Executive Director. "If so, you should join us for this day-long session."
Chuck V. Loring, the senior partner of the fundraising and governance consulting firm of Loring, Sternberg, & Associates will lead the workshop. He is also a senior governance associate for BoardSource (formerly the National Center for Nonprofit Boards) in Washington, D.C.
Topics will include: How current trends in the nonprofit sector affect organizations; the legal obligations of nonprofit board members; how to be successful at board recruitment, orientation, retention, and evaluation; what it means to have a board culture of fundraising; and the relationship of board and staff in the fundraising process.
The workshop will be held Thursday, December 13 at the Woods Hole Research Center, 149 Woods Hole Road, Falmouth. Free transportation from the Woods Hole steamship terminal will be provided.
The workshop is presented in collaboration with The Cape Cod Foundation with the generous support of the Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Foundation, according to a press release.
The cost to Vineyard nonprofits is $100 per team of four, including breakfast and lunch. For more information, call Peter Temple at 508-645-3690 or visit www.mvdonors.org.
