Downtown is starting to "look a lot like Christmas." The swags on the lamp posts in the David Healey Mall are outstanding, and the stores are showing some decorations also.
Now some of the seasonal stores on Circuit Avenue are closed for the winter. We do so appreciate the care that two of the stores, namely Mary's Linen Store and The Old Stone Bakery, take to make sure that their display windows are so attractively decorated, even though they are closed till spring. It makes the season a little more cheerful. We do wish some of the other businesses would follow their lead, so we wouldn't have to look at paper-covered windows or worse when we are shopping downtown.
Archer Butler was baptized on November 14 at the Edgartown Federated Church. His godmother is Jessica Burgoyne of Edgartown and his godfather is Matthew Plenge from Tappan, New York. In addition to his parents Olivia and Nicholas and big sister Delilah, Archer had many Island friends and family help him celebrate. His great aunts came from Rhode Island and uncles from New York. His reception was at the home of his grandparents Jack and Pat Law from Oak Bluffs. It was a beautiful day.
