Obituaries:
Betty L. Boyd

Posted January 31, 2008

Betty Louise Troutman Boyd was born to Janet Troutman-Simmons and Willie Troutman in Springfield, on May 9, 1952. She died on Jan. 15, in Boston. Betty called Martha's Vineyard home for the past 10 years, a beautiful place she loved dearly.

Betty was well known throughout Martha's Vineyard for her volunteer work at local churches, schools, and food pantries. Betty was a unique vibrant spirit known for her exciting smile. Betty was blessed with an eye for beauty and expressed this through her artwork, which can be seen throughout Martha's Vineyard. Betty felt blessed that she was known for her art, which was recently displayed at the Cinderella art show.

Many Martha's Vineyard residents also knew Betty as a true green thumb. She could be seen in different gardens around the Island, and it seemed that anything she touched came alive. She will always and forever be remembered as a strong woman, friend, artist, daughter, loving mother, and grandmother. She was a true child of God.
