Obituary : Robert H. Clark, Jr.
Robert H. Clark, Jr., 44, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and formerly of West Tisbury died unexpectedly in Ft. Lauderdale on August 28.
Bob was born on March 11, 1964 in Oak Bluffs and attended the Island schools and was graduated from Martha's Vineyard Regional High School. He worked for the Steamship Authority until opening and operating Bob's Pizza in Vineyard Haven in 1990.
After spending a few years in Florida during the winter months, he decided to sell his business and his home on the Vineyard and move to Florida year-round. He enjoyed being near the ocean and loved the warm weather.
He moved to Ft. Lauderdale in 2004 and worked in the restaurant business and security details.
Bob had a fun sense of humor and loved landscaping, gardening and flowers. He will be remembered for his sports knowledge and his love of the Dallas Cowboys and the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed golfing and keeping current of world events by reading newspapers from front to back. Bob was a caring and thoughtful man and will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his father, Robert H. Clark, Sr.; and his wife, Carol; and his mother, Mardell Francis and her husband, Alfred; his sister, Robin Sylvia and her husband, Gary and their children, Crystal Thomas, Kandace Sylvia and Michael Sylvia; his step-grandfather, Elisha Smith and his wife, Denise and many aunts and uncles including a special uncle, Richard Clark and his wife, Lorraine.
A graveside service will be held in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Vineyard Haven officiated by the Rev. Michael Nagle on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 11 am.
