Purple eleven opens at White
The MVRHS football team plays its first game of the season, Saturday, at White Stadium, Jamaica Plains, a venue with pleasant memories for Coach Donald Herman. It was there that the Islanders won their first two super bowl games.
Kickoff time is 12 noon. MV's 2010 roster lists 31 players, 10 of whom are seniors, 15 are juniors.
Beginning at Jamaica Plains, the football season reaches its climactic conclusion on November 20, here, with the resumption of the 62-year-old traditional Vineyard–Nantucket game.
