Reid reigns at Mid-Cape
Reid Yennie of West Tisbury won the USTA Mid-Cape Summer Classic tennis tournament at South Yarmouth in the 16-and-under division last weekend. As the second seed in the tourney, Reid received a bye in the first round and dispatched his first opponent in the second round, Saturday, 6-0, 6-1. On Sunday, in the semifinals, Reid defeated Nicholas Robbie, 6-3, 6-1.
In the final match he split sets with Patrick Wyeth of Harwich, the fourth seed, 6-4, 6-7, then won a 10 point tie-breaker when Robbie retired with Reid up, 7-3.
Vineyarders Justice Yennie, Kent Leonard, and Jock Cooperrider also played in the tournament. Justice and Kent both reached the semifinals. All four players train at Vineyard Youth Tennis.
