The Senior Art Show at the Howes House in West Tisbury was held on June 25, featuring the work of the many artists who meet every Friday throughout the year for watercolor painting. Screens were set up around the room on which a colorful array artwork — flowers, seashells, still lifes, nature scenes, and figures — were displayed. The group also displayed work they did independently — beach scenes, birds, a Menemsha sunset.
"It's such a nice group of people," said Nancy Cabot, the watercolor group's coordinator. She generally brings a subject for everyone to paint. Once she just brought herself to serve as their model.
"They have such a good time, said Carolyn Bialow, who came to view the art. "It's not just the painting, they enjoy each other."
Susan Silva, who was busy knitting an afghan, explained that many of them do other crafts together, like knitting, putting up food, even berry picking. She smiled as she said, "We're kind of crafty, aren't we?"
