Whalers rescheduled
Bad weather cancelled the Martha's Vineyard Regional High School boys' varsity ice hockey team's game against Nantucket on that island Monday. The game was rescheduled to 5:30 pm, Saturday, Jan. 1, on Nantucket. The Vineyarders (0-2) are preparing for a happy new year.
School basketball
In interscholastic basketball play, the West Tisbury boys defeated Tisbury 40-21 at Vineyard Haven, on Tuesday, Dec. 21, just before the seasonal break. The up-Island boys are undefeated at 4-0.
At West Tisbury the up-Island girls bested their down-Island cousins, 40-21. Lucy Hackney led the way with 21 points. Emily Turney added eight for West Tisbury.
The WesTiz girls lead at the half was 17-9.
New Year's Run
A group of Island runners has organized a New Year's Day five-mile run around West Chop that will begin at 10 am at the Tisbury School and American Legion Post. A potluck brunch will follow. For more information, email run131@comcast.net.
