The Martha’s Vineyard Commission (MVC) has rescheduled a public hearing on the Stop & Shop Supermarket Company’s plans to expand its Vineyard Haven store. The hearing will be held at the Tisbury Senior Center on July 11, starting at 7:10 pm.
In February the Stop & Shop Company announced plans to take advantage of its related real estate holdings to increase the size of the building the grocery store now occupies and add enclosed parking for 43 cars.
The proposed two-story, 28,000-square-foot building would include parking in an enclosed area on the ground level and a loading area at the rear fronting on the town parking lot.
The town of Tisbury referred the project to the MVC for review as a development of regional impact (DRI). Although the MVC previously scheduled a public hearing to start tonight, Stop & Shop representatives requested more time to gather necessary documents and information, according to MVC staff member and DRI coordinator Paul Foley.
There is no MVC meeting tonight. At its next meeting, on Thursday, June 20, the commission will continue a public hearing at 7:15 pm regarding the Nova Vida/Alliance Church’s proposed expansion plans.
