To the Editor:
As a one-time resident of Martha’s Vineyard I was planning on taking a vacation on the island the week of August 11. When I found out that the President and his family were also planning on being on the Island the same week, I changed my vacation plans. I was particularly disturbed by the President’s comments on a recent Jay Leno show when he stated that anyone who speaks out against homosexuality “violates basic morality.” What he should have said is anyone who speaks out against homosexual expression “violates my basic morality,” which is no morality at all in the traditional understanding of sexual expression. I hope the President and his family enjoy their fourth trip to the Island. I will come at a later date.
