To the Editor:
My neighbors and I have been trying to resolve a noise issue with a thoughtless and inconsiderate neighbor for more than a year. Because of Tisbury’s antiquated (1967) noise restriction by-laws, the police have responded to at least seven complaints, yet the constant noise continues, sometimes up to 4 am, weekdays as well as weekends.
As a result, I would propose that we adopt the same noise restrictions that Edgartown revised in 2011, mainly that the distance of audible noise be reduced from our present standard of 1/10th of a mile to 150 feet from the source.
If you, or anyone you know has experienced a similar situation, I would ask that you please attend next Tuesday’s (October 1 ) selectmen’s meeting at 5:30 pm, at Katharine Cornell Memorial Theatre, above town hall. Or, if you cannot attend, please express your concerns to a selectman or call or email Aase Jones, at AJones@TisburyMA.gov.
Thank you in advance for your support.
