To the Editor:

The Scottish Society of Martha’s Vineyard thanks all those who helped to make our 27th Annual Robert Burns Dinner such a success. We’d especially like to thank those who contributed to our scholarship auction and raffle: Cape Air, Peter Wells and the Chappy Ferry, Ian Aitchison, Tony Peak, Cindy Bonnell, Alan and Chele Reekie, The Harbor View Hotel, Madeline Fisher, Tripp Barnes, Steve and Claudia Ewing, Ed Pierce, Deborah Medders, Sofia Anthony, Mary Jo Goodrich, Baily and Joan Norton, Shirley Craig, Donna Blackburn, Bud France, Al’s Package Store, Your Market, Patricia Correia, Phyllis Meras, Chris, Pam and Veronica Scott, Bob and Brenda Wallace, and Bill and Betsy Llewelyn.

Thanks to the Harbor View staff and Chef Nathan and crew for a great meal. To Liz Packer for some wonderful Island-bred haggis ingredients, Jack Wildauer and Bob Lane for an exceptionally flawless sound and lighting system. Thanks to Geri Smith for helping to organize the process behind the scenes. And thanks to auctioneer Tripp Barnes, for again attempting the seemingly impossible task of tricking us Scots out of our money.

This year’s dinner was dedicated to our own Richard C. Brown, who died at the age of 97, after many years of donating his wonderful wood carvings to our auction.

For Auld Lang Syne.
