The state Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is accepting applications until April 7 to fill the forest and park supervisor job at the Manuel Correllus State Forest previously held by John J. Varkonda of Edgartown, who died unexpectedly in December.
DCR press secretary Bill Hickey told The Times that a new supervisor will be chosen as soon as possible once interviews with the applicants are completed.
Applicants must have at least four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, technical or professional experience in forestry, parks, or recreational management, of which at least two years must have been in a supervisory capacity.
An associate’s or higher degree with a major in forestry, natural resources management, or parks and/or recreation management may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required experience. A class D motor vehicle operator’s license is also required.
Full details are on the DCR website.
