Kristen Anderson named citizen of the year

Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School alumna Kristen L. Anderson, daughter of William and Maureen Anderson of Oak Bluffs, received a “Citizen of the Year” award from the Sarasota Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity at an award ceremony in Bradenton, Florida, on April 5.

Ms. Anderson is program director of special programs at State College of Florida. She received the award, which honors community leaders based on their dynamic service to the community, for her role in assisting underprivileged young men and women in succeeding and persisting in college, according to a press release.

Ms. Andersen, a former Peace Corps worker, is pursuing a PHD in leadership and education from Barry University in Miami Shores.
