West Tisbury police said the driver of a maroon Buick Century was not injured in a single car accident Monday that closed State Road for a short period of time.
Police said Wayne Tate, 40, of South Dennis, was at the wheel of a 2003 Buick Century that was headed down Island and came to rest on its roof on a straight section of State Road between Nip N Tuck Farm and Heather Gardens about 1:15 pm, Monday.
One witness said it appeared the driver drove onto the road shoulder and struck a tree stump causing the vehicle to flip over.
Police said they would issue a citation to Mr. Tate for negligent operation of a vehicle.
