Tisbury police are investigating a fight that took place between two adult males during the town’s street fair Tuesday night.
“There was a minor fracas on the porch of the Steamship Authority building,” Lieutenant Eerik Meisner told The Times in a phone call Wednesday. “The incident is still under investigation and no arrest has been made yet.”
He said he had no other details but would provide additional information once the investigation is complete and if an arrest is made.
“Other than that, the street fair went perfectly and there were no other issues,”
Lieutenant Meisner said.
The Tisbury police were assisted during the three-hour event by personnel from all of the Island town police departments and State Police. “We do the same; we’ve sent some of our officers to events such as the Edgartown fireworks and the West Tisbury Ag Fair,” Lieutenant Meisner said.
Since the street was packed with shoulder-to-shoulder people, he added, cameras in the Island’s mobile command unit, parked on Main Street, helped police keep an eye on the crowd.
“We were pleased with how everything worked out,” Lieutenant Meisner said.
