On Thursday, September 4, it’s off the beaches and onto buses for students in Martha’s Vineyard Public Schools (MVPS) and the Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School as they return for a new school year.
New MVPS teachers report to their classrooms for orientation on August 28 and 29. All staff members return on September 2 for a back-to-school kickoff event at 8:30 am in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, and to their local schools on September 3.
The incoming freshmen have a half day to themselves at MVRHS to learn the ropes on Wednesday, September 3. Orientation activities start in the PAC at 7:35 am and end at noon. Lunch will be served.
Opening day information for MVPS is available online at mvyps.org, which also includes links to the individual schools. Parents can check in with schools for bus routes and stops or contact Transportation Manager Jimmy Flynn at MVRHS at 508-693-1033, ext. 253.
