West Tisbury police are investigating a robbery at Alley’s General Store sometime between closing on Monday night and 9 am Tuesday morning. The thief or thieves stole more than $800, according to West Tisbury police.
Chief Dan Rossi told The Times that the perpetrator entered the store through an unlocked window on the side of the building. The alarm in the building was not activated.
Chief Rossi asked Islanders to take note of recent burglaries and practice vigilance in their homes and at work. “Unlocked doors, unlocked windows, deactivated alarms all leave thieves an opportunity to steal,” he told The Times. “Please be diligent and secure your buildings.”
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact the West Tisbury police department at 508-693-0020, wtpd@wt-pd.com or send a message to the department on their Facebook page.
