Farm Neck Golf Club Foundation awards $52,000 in grants

The board of directors of the Farm Neck Foundation this week announced the recipients of a total of $52,012 in grants. The Foundation is an independent charitable corporation created by Farm Neck Golf Club to provide charitable assistance exclusively for Martha’s Vineyard, according to a press release.

The following organizations have received grants: Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Society ($1,000 to help fund the annual Thanksgiving concert); Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary / Mass Audubon ($4,000 to fund the Windemere Education Project – bringing the outdoors inside for resident Alzheimer’s patients); The Drum Workshop ($1,500 to help fund a 20-week ensemble drumming program for teens); Adult and Community Education of M.V. ($2,000 to conduct an Adult Education Community Needs Assessment for Martha’s Vineyard); Rising Tide Therapeutic Equestrian Center ($3,000 to provide scholarships and financial assistance); Martha’s Vineyard Association of EMTs ($3,122 to provide funds needed to implement the use of a web-based testing program that prepares students for national certification); Town of Aquinnah, Gay Head Lighthouse project ($10,000 to help fund the engineering and design of the transport system for the Lighthouse relocation); Living Local Harvest Festival ($4,000 to fund expert guest speakers and presenters for the 2015 Festival); The Yard ($2,000 to purchase a MacBook Pro 15” Laptop); MVY Radio ($3,505 to cover the costs of upgrading microphones and equipment); Island Grown Initiative – ‘Island Food Hub’ Interactive Map ($4,500 to launch an interactive map connecting farmers and consumers); Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse ($2,500 to establish a scholarship fund for the Summer Stars Theater Arts Camp); Island Elderly Housing, Inc. ($2,085 to help fund the ‘Blueberry Van’ transportation program); M.V. Youth Leadership Initiative – Stone Soup Leadership Institute ($2,000 to help fund the expansion of the Career Mentoring and Job Shadow Day Programs); Vineyard Montessori School ($1,800 to send two teachers to the American Montessori Society Annual Conference); Vineyard House ($5,000, the third and final year of a three-year pledge of $5,000 per year for the Capital Building Campaign).
