SSA advises customers to monitor ferry service on Friday

Update 9:30 am, Friday: The SSA has suspended ferry service to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.

The Steamship Authority is advising travelers to be alert to possible service disruptions on Friday in connection with expected high winds.

In an email to customers, the SSA said the National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning that is in effect from 5 am, Friday until 4 pm, Friday.

“Strong to damaging winds are possible on Friday along the far southeast coast … with winds southwest 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts up to 65 mph.”

The Steamship Authority advised its customers to check the Authority’s website for further updates at www.steamshipauthority.com.

The Sankaty’s morning trip was cancelled. More cancellations are possible.
