A race is shaping up for two seats on the Oak Bluffs board of selectmen in the town election on April 16. The field of candidates includes incumbents Kathleen Burton and chairman Gregory Coogan, who will face a challenge from Abraham Seiman, Raymond Taylor, and Brian Packish.
Ms. Burton, a branch manager and bank officer at Santander Bank, has served two three-year terms. Mr. Coogan, a retired teacher, has served on the board for 12 years.
Abraham Seiman is running for selectman for a second time. A member of the Martha’s Vineyard Commission, he is retired.
Raymond Taylor is running for selectman for the first time. Mr. Taylor, a driver with Cape Cod Express for 20 years, has served on the finance advisory board for the past five years.
Brian Packish, owner of Packish Landscaping, has served on the planning board for two years. He is also chairman of the downtown streetscape committee, and he serves on the roads and byways committee, the sign committee, the former Copeland district committee and the Niantic park playground fundraising committee. The remaining Oak Bluffs races are all uncontested.
