To meet the needs of Island elders that want to age in their home for as long as possible, the Martha’s Vineyard Healthy Aging Task Force is hosting a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) workshop April 30 to May 2 at the Harbor View Hotel.
According to a press release, the CAPS training workshop offers licensed architects, building contractors, and occupational therapists the information to ensure that Vineyard homes are safe and functional to accommodate the needs of the aging. This program teaches the technical, business management, and customer service skills essential to home modifications for aging-in-place. The workshop is open to a limited number of participants, and qualifies for continuing education credits.
The three-day training workshop is $600 per person, all-inclusive, and is sponsored by the Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank, the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, South Mountain Co., and the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce. Information and a brochure can be downloaded at mvdonors.org. Registration is due by April 10. To register or learn more, contact Deborah Shipkin at 774-930-6622, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
