The Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club was the big winner on Saturday, July 11, thanks to the success of the sold-out annual Casino Night and Silent Auction, hosted by the Boathouse at the Field Club in Edgartown.
Event proceeds totaled $20,300, thanks to the wonderful support of patrons who purchased tickets and bid on a stunning variety of donated auction items that included a private yacht trip to Nantucket, spa and golf packages, and pieces from local artists, according to a press release.
In addition to the $20,300 in direct proceeds from the event, the Club will receive matching funds from the Salah Foundation to complete the “Cleaner, Greener Club Campaign,” an $80,000 drive to make improvements and upgrades to the club’s Anthony H. Meyer Clubhouse. Improvements include new carpeting and painting, restroom and locker-room renovations, and insulation of the gymnasium roof. “The kids are the real winners tonight,” Peter Lambos, executive director of the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club said. “The grownups had all the fun, but the kids are going to benefit from this for years to come. The money raised will complete necessary facility improvements, which will enhance the club environment for our kids, and their overall club experience.”
