Donald Clark, 63, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., the driver of a red 2000 Suzuki station wagon, told Oak Bluffs police he swerved to avoid a car in his lane before leaving Airport Road and ending up in the woods just after noon Sunday. Witnesses traveling in the opposite direction said the Suzuki veered into their lane and was fishtailing before it went off the road.
Mr. Clark was uninjured in the accident.
Oak Bluffs Sergeant Mike Marchand said police issued a citation to Mr. Clark for negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation.
