Dr. Lorna E. Andrade, a member of the NAACP Martha’s Vineyard branch since 1984, has been selected by the Boston State College Steering Committee to be honored as a distinguished member of the Boston State family. According to a press release, Ms. Andrade’s “contributions and successes embody the mission of ‘Education for Service’ that defined Boston State College.”
This year the celebration will take place at the University of Massachusetts Boston on Dec. 3, and it will also include the eighth annual presentation of the Boston State College ‘Education for Service’ Awards.
Dr. Andrade founded the Martha’s Vineyard Health Education Collaborative, which is bringing access to higher education via a Cape Cod Community College campus on-Island.
