The Vineyard Haven Harbor Cultural District (VHHCD) is inviting all residents of Tisbury to participate in a contest to create a logo for the district.
“We invite Tisbury residents to develop a logo and branding concept that will capture the depth and variety of arts and cultural assets of this beautiful Cultural District,” said MJ Bruder Munafo, co-chair of the VHHCD Partners Steering Committee. “Our goal is to inspire residents and visitors to explore and enjoy their time in the district.”
The VHHCD, which was officially authorized by the Massachusetts Cultural Council in June 2015, runs from the Tisbury Marketplace to the Vineyard Haven Library, and includes all the businesses and historic homes in its footprint. The hope of the Partners Steering Committee is to collect entries, then gather the Partners to choose a design that captures the spirit of Tisbury by the end of the year. They will work to implement the design by the first quarter of 2016.
“Imagination, ingenuity, and creativity are integral to Tisbury’s history, and we hope to encourage that in our search for a fresh logo design,” said Amy Ryan, co-chair of the committee.
Any Tisbury resident, whether artist, amateur, adult, or child, may submit a design by Nov. 30. Designs must be original, and, if selected, free for use in any way by the VHHCD and its partners. While there is no money involved in the contest, the winner will be publicly acknowledged. Submissions can be delivered to Nancy Gardella at the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce at 24 Beach Road, Monday through Friday between 9 am and 5 pm, or emailed to nancy@mvy.com. Direct all inquiries to nancy@mvy.com or 508-693-0085, ext.16.
