The Permanent Endowment Fund for Martha’s Vineyard and the Martha’s Vineyard Donors Collaborative announced they will establish and manage the Vineyard Fund for Board Development and Education.

Initially seed-funded by the Tower Family Fund, the purpose of this new fund is to provide nonprofit and municipal organizations incentive and support for board development, evaluation, and education, and in some cases, strategic planning, according to a press release.

“We are very pleased to be partnering with the Donors Collaborative and the Tower Family Fund on such important work in the community,” Emily Bramhall, chairman of the Permanent Endowment board, said.

“There are many Vineyard organizations that can benefit from this fund, which will allow them to undertake important capacity-building work they haven’t been able to afford before,” Peter Temple, executive director of the Donors Collaborative, said.

Interested nonprofit or municipal organizations may apply via the Endowment’s website at any time of the year for project-based funding to support board development consulting, longer-term board member training, and other board-related educational experiences, according to the Endowment. The Vineyard Fund for Board Development and Education Committee, comprised of members from the three aforementioned organizations, will evaluate the grant requests, and funds will be awarded directly from the Endowment.

Organizations may also be nominated for this opportunity, either openly or anonymously, by emailing or writing to the Permanent Endowment staff, who will then inform the organization in question that it has been nominated by a member of the Island community.

Organizations that receive funding will be expected to provide stewardship reports to the Endowment on the results of their work, and they may also be invited to present at an open forum for the community.

Applications will be made available on the Endowment’s website endowmv.org by Feb. 15, and will remain available year-round.
