Bridgewater State University junior forward Jennie Lindland of Edgartown has been selected as the New England Women’s Basketball Association/PrestoSports Player of the Week.
Jennie averaged 19 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 7 steals in a perfect 2-0 week for the Bears while shooting 72 percent (18-25) from the floor.
She tallied a career-high 20 points on 10 of 12 shooting to go along with three rebounds and a career-best nine steals in an 85-34 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) win over Fitchburg State University. She also notched 18 points on 8 of 13 shooting to go along with two rebounds, two assists, five steals, and a blocked shot in a 56-43 MASCAC win over Salem State University.
Through 14 games this season, Jennie is averaging 10.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 2.6 steals per game. She currently leads the MASCAC in field goal percentage (54.3 percent) and is tied for fourth in steals.
In 65 games over three seasons with the Bears, Lindland has amassed 469 points, 206 rebounds, 70 assists, 47 blocked shots, and 107 steals.
The BSU women’s basketball team is 5-9 on the season and 2-1 in the MASCAC standings.
