To the Editor:
Rising Tide Therapeutic Equestrian Center has had a wonderful year in 2015, and we are using this winter season to formulate our plans for 2016.
In 2015, with our three Instructors (all state licensed, two PATH certified) and four experienced horses, we served our dedicated community of riders by giving over 500 lessons. Our participants have developed and maintained relationships with each other, the horses, their instructors, and volunteers. This enrichment is at the heart of our program as we move into our 10th year. The generous support of the Vineyard community has sustained us since our inception, and we are grateful to our loyal friends.
Lately, many people have asked us if we are affiliated with the Martha’s Vineyard Community Horse Center project at Misty Meadows. We are not, however we support their vision and wish them the very best. We do maintain our collaborations with Island Autism Group (IAG), Island Community Counseling Center, public and charter schools, homeschoolers, Camp Jabberwocky, and summer residents.
This year, we will enhance our offerings by adding additional capacity and programs which will allow us to serve and include even more individuals who wish to benefit from our organization. This involves enlarging our barn, bringing in more horses, and adding new programs using our uniquely qualified staff.
Our fundraising season starts on Saturday, March 5n with a fun and inclusive afternoon of bowling with friends, family, and/or coworkers at the the Barn, Bowl & Bistro in Oak Bluffs. If you would like to participate in this event, please contact me at 508-693-5300 for more information or just stop by between 2 and 4 pm to support us and enjoy the Barn’s delicious menu.
While we are trying to maintain lessons when weather permits, we plan to be back in full swing by early April.
In the coming year we invite you to consider joining Rising Tide’s community in whatever capacity suits you — as a rider, a volunteer, a donor, or a board member. Thank you all for your continuing support.
