The fifth annual Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite holiday fundraiser raised a record-breaking $15,360 for the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club. The event, which ran from Thanksgiving through Christmas, now brings the total raised over the past five years to $50,000. All the money raised has gone directly to support after-school programs run by the Boys & Girls Club, including additional learning and educational supplies, the Games Room renovation, after-school tutors, healthy snacks, and more. The after-school program serves more than 400 elementary-school Island children.
Teddy Bear Suite organizers added a number of new events that helped drive up the fundraising effort this year, including the Teddy Bear Trot 5K Fun Run, shop-for-a-cause events hosted in the suite, and sales of a commemorative bear.
