Ten Tisbury Tigers from the Tisbury Elementary School, accompanied by math teachers Ms. Forrester and Ms. Canham, participated in a regional MathCounts competition on Feb. 3 in New Bedford. According to a press release, Tisbury was well represented by a team of four eighth graders: Peter Burke, Olivia Pouliot, Julia Dostal, and Kya Maloney, joined by six other committed individuals: Alexa Pil, Eric Reubens, Molly Carroll, Molly Baldino, Vitor Lage, and Annabelle Cutrer. The team came in third out of 14 schools, and earned the right to go to the state competition. Three of the students placed in the top 25 percent: Peter Burke was ninth overall, Julia Dostal was 20th, and Olivia Pouliot was 28th. The state competition will take place on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston.
