To the Editor:
I believe that harbormaster John Wilbur is too modest (Feb. 25, “Tisbury harbormaster would give family name to channel”). Why stop at trying to slide in the Wilbur name to designate a simple bridge channel? I think we should wipe out the name of Tisbury and call it Wilburville. I believe John can get the ball rolling by swiping a few more sheets of town stationery and making the proper request.
Why does the town have a “loose cannon” for a harbormaster? Public features should be named after a patriotic person, not after someone whose father lived within sight of it.
Also, is there no control of who is authorized to use town stationery? Who is watching the town office?
